Last night I hosted my first game night with friends. We had so much fun I didn't even take pictures, but it felt good to do something *normal* again.
Today, we slept in, did some fun shopping and then just did things WE wanted to do. We went to the bookstore and bought more books and we felt good about bringing them HOME. I even took a nap in the recliner. Tomorrow, we will again, take things slow and easy doing what we WANT to do, not what we HAVE to do, just so we can live.
We are discovering our new normal...and while it feels strange, it feels good.
I was out on the patio waiting for Lucy to do her doggie thing and I looked back inside at Dana. She was doing something creative that she hadn't done in weeks. I had finished a baby blanket that I started before we moved and am about to start another. This strange place is becoming a place where we do our stuff. A place where friends come over. A place where we feel safe and can actually relax. Soon, it will feel like our home. Soon it will hold memories of us. We have started making them and we have started laughing and joking. We are filling our memory jar with new, fun, loving experiences that are unique to just us.
And that feels like home.
